Ada originated from the US Department of Defense (since 1977) and was intended for safety-critical software (like airplanes). Ada is safe by design, with features like array bounds and type range checking.
Rust (started in 2006) is designed to overcome the memory safety problems of C and C++.
Still, within the embedded systems software, the market share of C/C++ is huge, and Rust (and certainly Ada) are niche languages.
Andre started 33 years ago as a SW engineer at Philips (Display components). He automated test tables for picture tubes.
After ten years, he moved to ITEC, the internal back-end equipment manufacturer of Philps Semiconductors.
Over the years, he had several roles as SW architect, product manager, system engineer, and system architect for die and wire bonders.
But in all roles, he reserved part of his time to actually create software.
