Abstract

In 2019, it's hard to ignore Augmented Reality (AR).
A few years ago, AR seemed reserved to games (remember Pokemon?) and gimmicks.
Today however, several companies are integrating AR into their main apps in order to enhance the value and functionality they provide to their users.
Companies like New York Times, SnapChat, Facebook, Ikea, ING and many others have showed that using apps can be both fun and greatly rewarding when AR is properly integrated.

In this hands-on session, we'll discuss what AR is or is not, discuss the available platforms and provide you the opportunity to build your first AR app with Android Studio.

Biography

Edward has been developing Android applications for the last 7 years. Both as a self-employed develper as well as a full time employee in agile teams.

His passion is working on new technologies or projects with every increasing/changing challenges because he easily gets bored when things become too familiar.

As Augmented Reality became more mature on Android, he dived into this field to learn more about it as well as to gain more skills. During this time, he has held a couple of workshops and webinars for other developers through his current employer: Sogeti Nederland B.V.
